Ground Source Heat Pumps

Ground source heat pumps draw heat from solar energy stored in the earth. Ground collectors consisting of flexible PE pipes are buried in the ground either horizontally or vertically and a mixture of water and anti-freeze is circulated through the pipe loops.

 If the installation area is large enough horizontal ground collectors can be used or if land space is limited the ground collector can be installed vertically in a bore hole.

Due to the consistency of ground temperature below surface level, ground source heat pumps provide high levels of efficiency all year round.
